THE INCAS LEGACY

LLULLAILLACO

Llullaillaco Volcano

The third highest mountain in Chile. The ascent of this mythical volcano goes from sports to a spiritual plane, since it is a sacred mountain and one of the main sanctuaries of the Inca culture.

Near the summit, three bodies were found left there in honor of the gods, thus becoming the highest sanctuary in the world.

The ascent to the mountain is technically easy, through poorly defined trails and some sections over snowfields that usually present penitents.

The low temperatures, the altitude and long days on the move, typical of any 6,000 climb, are the elements that make this mountain a tough test to overcome, but beyond the summit, it constitutes a strong and interesting personal challenge.
